September 7, 2023

Minutes:

The Baxter County Republican Men’s Club met noon, September 7, 2023 at the Mountain Home Elk’s Lodge. Chairman Waldrop chaired the meeting with 14 members, 2 Auxiliary members and 1 guest in attendance.

A moment of silence was observed and pledge of allegiance was recited. The Treasurer and Secretary reports were given. Chris Chamberlin gave the County Committee report, Dennis Frank the QC report. Chris Chamberlin the 1st District, Bill Andres and Gary Smith the Election Commission report and Don Nelson reported on the Baxter County Women’s Republican Committee.

New Business:
1. Tony Chamberlain reported that next month’s guest speaker will be Rachel Young from ASU.

General Discussion:
Wayne Roth discussed current status of the Gamaliel fire boat. A lively discussion ensued pertaining to the $65K the city of Mtn. Home plans to invest in traffic surveillance cameras. The prevailing sentiment was that the membership considered this a poor investment and possible infringement on their rights and privacy.

August 3, 2023

Minutes:

The Baxter County Republican Men’s Club met noon, August 3, 2023 at the Mountain Home Elk’s Lodge. Chairman Waldrop chaired the meeting with 16 members, 2 Auxiliary members and no guests in attendance.

A moment of silence was observed and pledge of allegiance was recited. The Treasurer and Secretary reports were given. Chris Chamberlin gave the County Committee report, Dennis Frank the QC report. No 1st District, TLRW or Election Commission report given.

Guest Speaker(s): none

Old Business: Vacancy in the 1st Vice President position: Status – still pending. (Post meeting, Tony Chamberlain volunteered to fulfill the responsibilities of the 1st vice Chair).

New Business:
1) Baxter County Fair’s Republican booth needs assistance with set-up, manning and take-down. Additional information will be passed on particulars.
2) Discussion to re-join the Mtn. Home Chamber of Commerce. After much discussion, Smith motioned seconded by Nelson to not renew for the following year. Vote was unanimous to approve.
3) Discussion on fund raising. A brief history of fund raising in the past was given by Smith. No further action taken.

General Discussion: Baxter County Judge Kevin Litty conducted a Q&A session on his first six months in office. Topics included the status of the landfill, status of the county health department and an extensive discussion of county airport events, past and present.

July 6, 2023

The Baxter County Republican Men’s Club met noon, July 6, 2023 at the Mountain Home Elk’s Lodge. Club Secretary Smith chaired the meeting with 10 members and 2 guests in attendance.

 

A moment of silence was observed and pledge of allegiance was recited. The Treasurers report and Secretary report were given. Ed Toscano gave the County Committee report, Dennis Frank the QC report, and Stetson Painter reported on the prior legislative session. No 1st District, TLRW or Election Commission report given.

 

Guest Speaker(s): Lieutenant Commander Cobb, Coastguard Auxiliary, informed the membership of that organization’s history, current status, activities, programs and goals.

 

Member Dan Hall relayed a project he and the DAV were working to get a disabled veteran some dental work funded that the Veterans Administration refused to fund.

 

Old Business: Vacancy in the 1st Vice President position. Status – still pending.

 

New Business: None

The Baxter County Republican Men’s Club met noon, May 4, 2023 at the Mountain Home Elk’s Lodge. President Waldrop chaired the meeting with 14 members and 1 guest in attendance.

A moment of silence was observed and pledge of allegiance was recited. The Treasurers report and Secretary report were given. County Committee report was a group effort. Quorum Court report given by Dennis Frank to include details from Secretary of State Griffin’s recent address. Bill Andres reported on Election Commission and school board election underway. No 1st District or TLRW representation.

Old Business: Vacancy in the 1st Vice President position. President Waldrop will fill in for next month’s effort to obtain a guest speaker.

New Business: None

General Discussion: Several members from the Gamaliel Fire District lead a discussion on their efforts to fund and replace their current fire boat.

The Baxter County Republican Men’s Club met noon, April 6, 2023 at the Mountain Home Elk’s Lodge. Secretary Smith chaired the meeting with 11 members and 1 guest in attendance.

A moment of silence was observed and pledge of allegiance was recited. Secretary report was given and the Treasurers report given by Dennis Frank who also reported on Quorum Court activity. BCRC report was a group effort; Bill Andres gave the Election Commission report. No TLRW or 1st District report was given.

Guest Speaker(s): District Captain Jack Randall gave a presentation on his efforts to push for a Convention of States. His address covered the reasons and background as to why this effort should succeed. His hand-out is attached to this record.

New Business:
1st Vice President Dennis Chafa, has submitted his resignation from the position of 1st Vice. An effort will be made to find a suitable replacement.

Announcements:
Next meeting is May 4, 2023.
Friends of the NRA dinner/banquet will be held April 18th. See Dan Hall for tickets.
Veterans Fair will be at the Fairgrounds on April 29th from 10-2.
Bull Shoals VFW will have a 48th anniversary celebration of the end of the Vietnam War April 30th.
2 to 5 p.m., Vietnam vets eat free, others $8 per. Live music provided.

Additional discussion on the By-law regulations pertaining to the support of Republican candidates during primary elections. An attempt will be made to get our Face book account back in club control.
